Baghdad, 2 October 2003 (RFE/RL) -- The U.S. military said today that a soldier was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade attack on a U.S. convoy in the town of Samarra, 100 kilometers north of Baghdad -- the third fatal ambush on U.S. forces last night.
Earlier in the evening, a U.S. soldier was killed and one was wounded in a gun attack while patrolling the Mansur district of Baghdad.
In Tikrit, Saddam Hussein's home town north of Samarra, a female U.S. soldier was killed and three soldiers were wounded by a roadside bomb blast that hit a military convoy late yesterday.
