Pakistani fighter plane crashes near Karachi

Islamabad, Sept 30, IRNA - A French-made Mirage fighter of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crashed near the port city of Karachi on Tuesday, a PAF spokesman said. The pilot Hasan Khalid of the aircraft barely survived when he ejected at the last moment and there was no loss of life on ground, PAF spokesman wing commander Tariq Mehmood said. The plane came down near Hub town, some 35 kilometers from Karachi at 1;30 p.m. The plane was on routine training mission, the spokesman said. The PAF has ordered inquiry into the incident.
