Indian forces encounter still on in Gurez in J&K; 15 bodies found

New Delhi, Sept 29, IRNA -- Indian security forces Monday said the encounter with militants in Gurez sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) was still on and at least 15 bodies of militants, who tried to infiltrate into the Indian territory, have been found, local media reported here on Monday. "15 bodies have been recovered so far. As per intercepts, the figure is much higher. The exchange of fire between the two sides, which started Sunday night, is still on," Lt. Col. Mukhtar Singh said in Srinagar. Earlier reports had said 12 militants were so far killed by security forces in the sector in north Kashmir, foiling their infiltration bid. In a related development, Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling along the line of control (LoC) targeting civilian areas and defense establishments killing a teenaged boy and wounding an Indian soldier in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir since Sunday evening, official sources said Monday. In the shelling along LoC in Kalaban, Kalsian, Jhangard, Kalal, Laam, Bhawani, Makri areas of Noushera sector of Rajouri district one teenager was killed and an Indian army soldier was injured in Kalaban and Nakri areas late Sunday night. The injured has been hospitalized, the sources said and added Indian troops retaliated and exchange of shelling was on in these areas till Monday morning. /210 End
