Indian soldier killed, six injured in artillery shelling in J&K

New Delhi, Sept 23, IRNA -- Pakistani troops pounded Rajouri-Poonch border belt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir with artillery and mortar shells killing a Indian Army soldier and injuring six persons in fresh border skirmishes since Monday night, official sources said Tuesday. According to the local media reports, armed with field guns, Pakistan troops atop Bhimber hills fired artillery shells and mortar bombs on civilian areas and forward defense locations (FOL) in Rajouri-Poonch sector from 11:30 p.m. (local time). In the shelling, one soldier was killed and three Indian Armymen wounded, one of them critically in Nowshera area Tuesday morning. Three civilians were injured when two mortar shells exploded with a bang near LoC Monday night. The sources said and added one of them is critical. All the injured have been hospitalized, the sources said, adding Indian troops have also replied to Pakistan shelling Tuesday morning and heavy exchanges were on when last reports came in from the areas. The loss on the other side was not known immediately, the sources said. /211 End
