General Dynamics Receives $7.9 Million Contract for Aegis Directors/Controllers

BURLINGTON, VT – General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has received a $7.9 million first increment release order from the Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., for the production of two Aegis gun and guided missile director and controller ship sets. General Dynamics anticipates an additional release order for the production of two more ship sets by the end of the year. Total contract value could reach $41 million if all contract options are exercised.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products produces the Aegis Illuminator gun and guided missile director and controller to equip the Aegis Weapon System, the U.S. Navy’s most advanced air defense system. The Aegis Director provides a stabilized platform for Raytheon Equipment Division’s radar antenna assembly and provides motion in two axes, supplying position and radar Line of Sight (LOS) data to the fire control system computer.
