Pak-Afghan resolve to boost forces on border
IRNA
Islamabad, Sept 13, IRNA - Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United State have decided to boost forces on Pak-Afghan border`s north zone to combat Taliban and Al-Qaeda elements, a local daily said. Widely circulated Urdu daily Jang reported that the officials of the three countries met last month in Bagram, Afghanistan to discuss the prevailing situation on Pak-Afghan border and movements of the unwanted elements. Pakistan agreed to deploy another 800 Frontier Corps personnel close to the border. On this occasion, Afghanistan raised the issue of handing over of 26 Taliban and Afghan soldiers to Kabul. In recent weeks, Kabul has accused Islamabad of not being able to maintain check on movement of Taliban and Al-Qaeda elements from its side of the common border. Islamabad rejects remarks by Afghan leaders saying Kabul officials have a loose control over countryside and the porous common Pak-Afghan border. MHA/TSH/211 End
