Militants attack Indian army camp, four personnel killed in Kashmir

New Delhi, Sept 13, IRNA -- In a suicide attack, two militants on Saturday stormed an Indian Army camp on the Line of Control (LoC) killing an officer and three soldiers and injuring seven others before one of them was shot dead by security forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). According to media reports, the militants stormed Indian Army camp situated in thick forests at Mildori-Pugua valley in Nowgam sector around 3:50 a.m. (local time) with one of them firing rifle grenades and the other hurling hand grenades and firing indiscriminately, official sources said. An Indian officer and three soldiers died on the spot in the attack while one militant was killed in retaliatory firing by Indian security personnel, they said. Police said, gunshots and blasts were still heard from inside the camp where the other militant was engaged in an exchange of fire with Indian security personnel. Reinforcements have rushed to Indian Army camp which has been cordoned off by Indian Army. The sources said, militants took advantage of Indian Army camp being located in thick forests on the border and attacked it. /211 End
