Pak-Afghan-US commission on border security postponed
IRNA
Islamabad, Sept 10, IRNA -- The tri-partite commission comprising Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States due to meet in Islamabad on Wednesday for consultations on border security issues is deferred. The subcommittee established by the Commission were to present recommendations about the ground verification to address each other`s concerns about incidents along the Pak-Afghan border. An informed source told IRNA that the commission will meet in two weeks and there was no "technical problem" to hinder it. "There are unconfirmed news that the Afghan side called for the postponement of the meeting as it coincided the ceremonies marking martyrdom of the Afghan commander Ahmad Shah Masoud," said the source who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan said Monday the commission will review coordination among the three countries in and around the border. "It will review joint efforts by the three countries against terrorism," he told the weekly press briefing. The commission met at Bagram, Afghanistan, last month to review tension along Pak-Afghan border and decided to establish hot-line between Pakistan and Afghanistan. /TSH/216 End
