U.S. Air Force, NATO participate in air exercise over Poland

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (USAFENS) - The NATO live-flying exercise, NATO AIR MEET 2003, takes place Sept. 5-19 at Poznan Air Base and Powidz Air Base, Poland.

NAM, conducted by Headquarters Allied Air Forces North, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, involves more than 80 different aircraft including tanker, airborne early warning aircraft and ground-based air defense systems from various participating air forces.

This year's exercise, hosted by Poland, focuses on practicing and evaluating tactics for the use of composite air operations with emphasis on the suppression of enemy air defenses and electronic warfare.

Other country air forces participating along side the U.S. Air Force include: Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and England.
