Ingraham makes port visit to Kure

KURE, Japan -- The guided missile frigate USS Ingraham (FFG 61) arrived here Aug. 27 for a regularly scheduled port visit. The Everett, Wash.-based ship is on a routine deployment to the western Pacific.
The visit is scheduled to provide Ingraham's crew of nearly 300 Sailors a chance to experience the culture and hospitality of Kure, and participate in friendship and goodwill activities such as community service projects with their hosts.
Ingraham, an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate assigned to the USS Carl Vinson Strike Group, performs a variety of vital missions including anti-submarine, anti-air warfare and shipping protection missions. The 4,100-ton warship was designed as a cost-efficient surface combatant and can support carrier and expeditionary strike operations.
The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is currently deployed in the western Pacific as part of America's standing commitment to maintain peace, stability, and theater security cooperation in coordination with allies in the region.
