Progress on Iran-Pak-India gas pipeline, says oil minister

Islamabad, Aug 26, IRNA -- Pakistan`s Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ch Nouraiz Shakoor on Tuesday announced progress on Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline. He said recent thaw in relations between Pakistan and India will help the project, according to the official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). "India has given indications that it will consider the project." As to the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan line project, he said a letter by the petroleum ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan has been written to their Indian counterpart and a reply is awaited. Shakoor also said Saudi Arabia has assured Pakistan it would continue to provide oil and other petroleum products under special arrangements, Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Monday concluded a five-day visit to Saudi Arabia. Pakistan, the minister said, has offered Saudi Arabia to participate in the privatization of public sector units such as Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Oil and Gas Development Corporation (OGDC) and others or enter in joint ventures with these companies. /TSH/AH/210 End
