Powell Condemns Mumbai Bombing
Expresses outrage and condolences to Indian External Affairs Minister
Following is the text of a State Department statement condemning the August 25 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, and relating Secretary of State Colin Powell's expression of outrage and condolences:

STATEMENT BY PHILIP T. REEKER, DEPUTY SPOKESMAN
Bombing in Mumbai, India
The United States condemns the senseless and cowardly terrorist attacks today in Mumbai, India. We hope that the perpetrators will be quickly identified and brought to justice. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell spoke this morning to Indian External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha about the bombings, which killed dozens of innocent people and injured many others. Secretary Powell expressed our outrage at the attacks and our condolences to the Indian government and people and to the families of the victims.
