Hamilton Sundstrand to supply C-17 equipment valued at $90 million

WINDSOR LOCKS, USA- North America, Connecticut, Aug 21, 2002

The Boeing Company’s recent contract with the U.S. Air Force for 60 additional C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft is good news for Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). The company will supply aircraft systems valued at approximately $90 million.

Hamilton Sundstrand products on the C-17 include the electric power system, ram air turbine emergency power system, electronic engine controls, fuel metering unit and aircraft/propulsion data management computers. The engine lube and scavenge pumps and main fuel pumps are also produced by the company, as are the OBIGGS (On Board Inert Gas Generating System) compressors.

Since its first flight in 1991, Boeing has delivered 89 C-17s to the U.S. Air Force. The transport aircraft supports both combat and humanitarian missions and, most recently, was used to ferry troops and supplies into Afghanistan.
