INTRO: The U-S military says a soldier has been killed in Baghdad in a roadside explosion. As Kirk Troy reports from the Iraqi capital, a sabotaged pipeline is still causing problems for authorities trying to resume oil exports.

TEXT: The U-S soldier died Monday after an explosive device was detonated. Details of the blast have not yet been released, and authorities said they were notifying members of the soldier's family.

Improvised explosive devices using artillery shells and other munitions have been increasingly used to target military convoys recently throughout Iraq.

U-S authorities also say two fires that erupted over the weekend on the main oil pipeline from Iraq to Turkey could take up to two weeks to repair. The U-S military says the incidents are under investigation and that sabotage is a possible cause.

The pipeline resumed operating only last Wednesday for the first time since the war began, and it managed to run for two days before the first rupture occurred. (Signed)
