JASDF completes 200th mission supporting war on terrorism

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan - The Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) successfully completed its 200th operational mission Aug. 14 in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
In alliance with the Yokota based 5th Air Force, commanded by Lt. Gen. Thomas Waskow, the JASDF, commanded by Gen. Yoshimitsu Tsumagari has provided outstanding continued support to the global war on terrorism through Operation FREEDOM LIFT.
The campaign that began in late 2001 has provided the JASDF with a unique opportunity to utilize their airlift capabilities to fly more than 582 sorties in support of the global effort.
"The men and women of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force have provided superb support and execution of 200 logistics and transport missions, moving more than 1800 pallets and over 2,200 tons of cargo," said General Waskow.
General Waskow went on to say, "our solid alliance and the JASDF's unwaivering support continues to enhance our ability to achieve the mission."
