1st Cavalry Division Deployment Timeline Announced

FORT HOOD, TX- The 1st Cavalry Division begins its deployment to the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility early next year.
The division's 2nd Brigade Combat Team will begin deploying in January, followed by the remainder of the division. Joining the division in this rotation is an enhanced separate infantry brigade. The deployment is expected to last one year.
The Department of Defense announced July 23 that the 1st Cavalry Division would participate in a rotation schedule in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Subsequent announcements have identified the 39th Enhanced Separate Infantry Brigade from the Arkansas National Guard to join the First Team. This is a light infantry brigade equipped with small arms and machine guns and has one battalion of mechanized infantry.
For security reasons, exact deployment dates and destinations will not be announced at this time. We will not speculate on the future deployment of additional forces.
