  • MISSILES, WEAPONS CONFISCATED CENTCOM 09 Aug 2003 -- Weapons were confiscated and improvised explosive devices were found and detonated by Coalition forces over the last 24 hours in support of the effort to create a safer and more secure environment in Iraq.
  • ANOTHER MEMBER OF "IRAQI TOP 55" IN COALITION CUSTODY CENTCOM 09 Aug 2003 -- Mahmud Dhiyab al-Ahmad, #29 on the coalition's list of most wanted government officials, is now under custody of coalition forces.

  • Coast Guard Helps Navy Navy Newsstand 09 Aug 2003-- The crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Walnut (WLB 205) was busy in the waters in and around Pearl Harbor Aug. 4 and 5, as they performed a Servicing Aids to Navigation (AtoN) evolution over the course of two days.
  • Bright Star 2003 Exercise Canceled 09 Aug 2003 -- The Department of Defense announced today that the United States has decided it will not be able to participate in this year's Bright Star exercise scheduled for next month.

  • LIBERIA/VICE PRESIDENT VOA 09 Aug 2003 -- The man Liberian President Charles Taylor has chosen to replace him as interim leader on Monday says he will appeal to rebel groups to create a unified post-Taylor government. Vice President Moses Blah is under pressure by rebel groups to leave the country with Mr. Taylor.
  • LIBERIA/FIGHTING VOA 09 Aug 2003 -- While peacekeepers in Liberia have begun deploying in the capital, Monrovia, there are new reports of fighting in other parts of the country. At the same time, aid workers warn that massive humanitarian assistance will be needed to help Liberia out of 14 years of civil war.
