VOICED AT:

INTRO: President Bush has arrived in South Africa on the second leg of a five-nation African tour. V-O-A's Delia Robertson reports, Mr. Bush is scheduled to meet early Wednesday with South African President Thabo Mbeki.

TEXT: At the top of the agenda when Presidents Bush and Mbeki meet early Wednesday will be Zimbabwe. They will discuss how best their governments can coordinate their dealings with Zimbabwe to bring about an end to the crisis in that country.

They will also discuss how to avoid serious conflict over their different approaches to issues of international importance. South Africa prefers to seek consensus in international bodies such as the United Nations, while Mr. Bush has preferred to deal with coalitions specific to U-S goals.

In addition to their formal meeting, Mr. Mbeki will host Mr. Bush and his delegation at a state luncheon. U-S officials have not announced any other events in South Africa.

But the Congress of South African trade unions told V-O-A Mr. Bush is scheduled to visit the Ford motor plant near Pretoria. Spokesman Patrick Craven said union members will stage a protest there to coincide with protest action in other cities against Mr. Bush's foreign policies. (SIGNED)
