Lockheed Martin Joins DD(X) National Team, Receives $175 Million Contract
MOORESTOWN, NJ, July 2nd, 2003 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has formally joined the DD(X) National Team with the signing of a $175 million subcontract with Raytheon, the lead systems integrator. Lockheed Martin will leverage its naval systems experience and domain expertise in total ship systems engineering, command and control, Integrated Undersea Warfare (IUSW), weapons control, and phased array radar for the design of Engineering Development Models (EDMs) for DD(X).
"DD(X) will deliver enormous new capability to the U.S. Navy," said Fred P. Moosally, president of Lockheed Martin's Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems business. "We are confident that our overall expertise in combat systems engineering and integration, along with our extensive involvement in the Navy's open architecture program, will add considerable strength to the DD(X) National Team and, in the end, deliver the best ship to the Navy."
The DD(X) is the Navy's next generation transformational surface combatant tailored for land attack in support of a ground campaign and maritime dominance. The National Team contracted to design and develop DD(X) is led by Northrop Grumman.
