Bosnia: France Warns Sarajevo About ICC Exemption Deal with U.S.
Sarajevo, 11 June 2003 (RFE/RL) -- France says Bosnia could experience "negative consequences" in its relations with the European Union if Sarajevo ratifies a deal giving U.S. citizens immunity from extradition to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The French Embassy in Bosnia said in a statement today that Bosnia's ratification of the deal prior to next week's EU summit in Greece would be a "bad signal."
The French ambassador to Bosnia, Bernard Bajolet, met with Bosnian officials this week to personally convey this message to them.
