Lockheed Martin E-10A BMC2 Team Adds Time-Critical Targeting Specialist Zeltech
OWEGO, NY, June 9th, 2003 -- Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have added Zel Technologies LLC (ZELTECH), a leader in intelligence and time-critical targeting technologies, to the Lockheed Martin-led team competing for the U.S. Air Force's E-10A battle management command and control (BMC2) contract. ZELTECH will contribute software development and integration support for intelligence preparation of the battlespace and time-critical targeting - capabilities strategic to the BMC2 subsystem aboard the E-10A Multi-sensor Command and Control Aircraft (MC2A). ZELTECH also will provide subject matter expertise on operational BMC2 issues.

As envisioned for the E-10A MC2A - the Air Force's next-generation battle control aircraft - the BMC2 subsystem will automate sensor data processing tasks currently performed by human operators, presenting a predictive battlespace awareness picture to the airborne commander. The knowledge to make actionable decisions in near-real time will enable the Air Force to significantly shorten the sensor-to-shooter decision cycle.
ZELTECH's time-critical targeting technologies will help airborne commanders positively identify and engage targets faster and more effectively through the BMC2 system. As the prime contractor for the Air Force's Time-Critical Targeting Functionality System, ZELTECH leads the development of targeting applications for areas such as joint target execution and battle damage assessment.
A Small Business Administration certified small / disadvantaged business, ZELTECH was founded in 1988 by Jack Ezzell, a retired Air Force colonel, who has grown a consulting business into a 250-employee technology organization supporting military command and control, battle management, and intelligence operations. The company also is participating in the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency's Information Assurance and Survivability program.

The Lockheed Martin-led E-10A BMC2 team draws on industry-leading experience in battle management, ISR, and command and control systems. Lockheed Martin is responsible for systems architecture, systems engineering and program management; Raytheon will perform the communications, ISR, and UAV control systems integration; and SAIC heads the modeling and simulation effort. The team also draws on focused domain expertise from L3 Communications, Alphatech, Inc., and Concurrent Technologies Corporation.
