
Chechnya: At Least 11 Killed In Explosion In Grozny
Moscow, 6 June 2003 (RFE/RL) -- Officials say at least 11 people were killed in an explosion at an apartment building in the Chechen capital Grozny today.
Akhmed Dzhairkhanov, Chechnya's deputy emergencies minister, said eight of the victims were children. Another three children were injured.
The official said the cause of the blast is being investigated.
Meanwhile, the number of people who died as a result of yesterday's suicide bombing near Chechnya has risen to 19. Russia's Interfax news agency says a woman died late yesterday from her wounds in the hospital.
