IBM, BAE SYSTEMS And STERIA Team To Bid For Ministry Of Defence IT Contract

05 Jun 2003

IBM, BAE Systems and STERIA will jointly bid for a UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) contract to support true end-to-end (E2E) communications for UK Armed Forces.

The project, known as Defence Information Infrastructure (DII), encompasses the MoD's entire information infrastructure stretching from all MoD fixed sites in the UK and abroad to deployed headquarters and military platforms around the world.

The joint team offers true E2E infrastructure management capability, combining world class project management with a proven ability to control risk, deliver benefits and implement change in a highly complex, large scale environment.

IBM's experience in delivery of large scale, multi-year outsourcing contracts is complemented by BAE Systems' proven expertise in delivering solutions to meet the complex requirements of global operations in the defence domain and STERIA's experience as a long term trusted infrastructure and managed services supplier to the MoD throughout the world.

The team's strengths include global IT infrastructure rollout and management, and deep domain expertise in meeting the MoD's unique military requirements. Added to this, the team will support innovation by drawing on research and development facilities that will ensure IT infrastructures are 'future proofed' over the course of the ten-year contract.

Together, IBM, BAE Systems and STERIA offer the MoD the foundation for low risk end-to-end IT infrastructure management that will enable staff to operate more effectively anywhere within the network enabled infrastructure.
