MILITARY INTELLIGENCE UNIT REDEPLOYS FROM MIDDLE EAST

The 504th Military Intelligence Brigade will welcome home the 15th Military Intelligence Battalion (-) (AE) from its recent deployment to the Middle East on June 3 at 3:30 p.m. at Robert Gray Army Airfield.

Task Force Nighthawk, consisting of nine RC-12 Guardrail aircraft with pilots, support personnel, contract partners and the headquarters element of the battalion, has been deployed to the Middle East in support of operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom since April 2002.

On March 24, the aircraft of the 15th Military Intelligence Battalion became the first manned intelligence collection asset from any service to fly combat missions over Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Throughout the deployment, the Guardrail aircraft of Task Force Nighthawk flew 716 mission sorties, logging over 3,325 flight hours, 1,048 hours of which were flown during combat mission sorties.

In the Integrated Processing Facility here on Fort Hood, a 70-person Intelligence Analysis Section provided round-the-clock intelligence support for the 12-month deployment. During the deployment, the personnel of the IPF supported 352 collection missions in 357 days, producing over 19,648 time-sensitive intelligence reports that provided critical intelligence to every echelon of command during and after the hostilities in Iraq.

Alpha Company, the Hunter unmanned aerial vehicle unit of the 15th Military Intelligence Battalion, remains deployed in support of operations in Iraq.
