MEDICAL UNIT REDEPLOYS FROM MIDDLE EAST

13th Corps Support Command soldiers and family members will welcome about 200 soldiers of the 36th Medical Evacuation Battalion back to Fort Hood from Iraq on Tuesday, June 3, at 5:30 p.m. at Abrams Fitness Center.

The 36th Medical Evacuation Battalion consists of the 507th Medical Company (Air Ambulance), 82nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance), and 555th Forward Surgical Team.

The 507th Medical Company (AA), known as the "Lone Star Dustoff," performed as the direct support medical evacuation company attached to the 3rd Infantry Division. The 82nd Medical Company (AA), call sign "Boomer Dustoff," served in general support of V Corps, providing support to the 82nd Airborne Division and U.S. Marines. The 507th and 82nd combined to execute 427 combat medical evacuation missions, evacuate 740 casualties, and log more than 2,400 combat flight hours. The 555th FST, call sign "Nickel," was attached to the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, providing surgical intervention under intense combat conditions.

Two of the battalion's units, the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) and the 565th Medical Company (Ground Ambulance), remain in Iraq in support of V Corps
