HELICOPTER CRASHES NEAR ORGUN-E

Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan - An Army AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed about 4:00 a.m. EDT (1:30 p.m. local Afghanistan time) today near Orgun-E in the Paktika Province in Southeast Afghanistan while supporting combat operations.

The two pilots on board were not injured during the incident, however, the aircraft was significantly damaged. Security forces sent to secure the crash site picked up both pilots. The pilots will be evaluated at the U.S. Army Combat Support Hospital at Bagram.

It is not believed the crash was caused by hostile fire, however the cause of the incident is under investigation.
