INTRO: President Bush and moderate Arab leaders have ended talks in Egypt with a vow to defeat terrorism and move the Mideast peace process. V-O-A's Paula Wolfson reports from the seaside resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

TEXT: President Bush says they came to Egypt at a moment of promise and are determined to move the peace process forward.

We see the potential for unity against terror. We see the potential for the birth of a new Palestinian state, and we see the potential for broader peace among the peoples of this region

He spoke of progress during his talks with the leaders of Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, along with the new Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas. Mr. Bush said there was agreement that terrorism is the greatest threat to peace.

The leaders here today have declared their firm rejection of terror, regardless of its justifications or motives.

From Egypt, President Bush goes to Jordan where he plans to hold a three-way summit with Prime Minister Abbas and Israeli leader Ariel Sharon. (SIGNED)
