22 Million Euros of Orders for the Maintenance of the Rafale

Le Bourget, 01 June 2003

Since the beginning of the year, EADS TEST & SERVICES has received a total of 22 million Euros in orders from Dassault Aviation for the maintenance of the French Air Force and French Navy Rafale aircraft.

Following on from the “Mermoz” contract under which the SESAR 3000 tester of EADS TEST & SERVICES was chosen for the maintenance of the Rafale aircraft, these new orders are for the adaptation of the tester to meet the requirements for aircraft’s new F2 standard. They include:

* optronic extension for testing the aircraft Front Sector Optronic system OSE (Optique Secteur Frontal),
* upgrades and additional test programs for the test of new equipment,
* a study on an upgraded shelterised version for the French Air Force to include testing of the OSF and the RBE2 radar,
* related support services.

Additional orders of an equivalent amount are expected this year, in 2004 and in 2005 to finalize the tester’s adaptation to the new standard of the aircraft.
