Afghanistan: U.S. Forces Come Under Attack In Separate Incidents
Kabul, 28 May 2003 (RFE/RL) -- The U.S. military today said unidentified attackers set off a remote-controlled bomb near a vehicle carrying U.S. special forces along Afghanistan's eastern border with Pakistan.
No one was injured by the explosion.
U.S. Army spokesman Rodney Davis said the device went off as troops were conducting a reconnaissance patrol at a border checkpoint near the town of Khost.
Also today, an Afghan military commander, Abdul Matin Hansankhiel, said two rockets were fired toward a U.S. base in the town of Gardez, northwest of Khost. The rockets fell short of their target and no one was hurt.
