
ThalesRaytheonSystems receives $22.3 million for U.S. Air Force Battle Control System

ThalesRaytheonSystems (TRS) Company has been awarded a $22.3 million dollar firm-fixed price contract to provide the Battle Control System (BCS) -Fixed, Spiral 1 for the United States Air Force. The BCS program will provide the replacement system for the current Regional Air Operations Center/Air Defense Sector (RAOC-ADS) delivered in 1984 by Hughes Command and Control Systems, Fullerton, Calif., which is now ThalesRaytheonSystems Company, LLC.
The BCS-Fixed (BCS-F), Spiral 1 program will provide fixed site installations at the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Pacific Command commanders with an interoperable, open-architecture air defense command and control platform in support of NORAD's Homeland Defense Mission. The contract includes $7.7 million in options for installation of BCS - at four additional sites. Future options are included for the spiral development of BCS, including its use in the mobile Control and Reporting Centers (CRCs), often referred to as BCS - Mobile (BCS-M). Total funds for the contract have been obligated by the contracting activity, Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass. The work will be accomplished in Fullerton, Calif. and will be completed by January 2005.

ThalesRaytheonSystems is also providing the new NATO ACCS Air Command and Control system to replace its existing NADGE system.

ThalesRaytheonSystems is a worldwide supplier of air defense command and control centers (ADCC) and ground based air defence battlefield radars. Annual income is approximately 700 million dollars with nearly 2000 people employed.
