Lockheed Martin and Argon Engineering Team up for the First Flight of the Lighthouse COMINT System
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA, May 21st, 2003 -- Lockheed Martin and Argon Engineering teamed together to perform the first airborne flight evaluation of Argon's Lighthouse Communications Intelligence (COMINT) processing capability in the high-density urban environment of Phoenix, Arizona. The Team flew the Lighthouse COMINT sensor for greater than 24 hours over 8 flights with results that exceeded expectations. The flights ranged from 5,000 to over 20,000 feet in altitude, verifying that the sensor is capable of handling the high dynamic signal densities of urban and military environments. "Argon is very pleased with the system's performance and wishes to extend our gratitude to our partner Lockheed Martin for providing the opportunity to validate that the COMINT Lighthouse capability currently fielded on submarines, surfaces ships and land sites is also extremely capable in an airborne environment," remarked Doug Mumma, director of Airborne Systems at Argon.
Wes Colburn, deputy vice president Lockheed Martin ISR Systems views, "Argon's open architecture COMINT Lighthouse system provides a very capable and dynamic sensor suite that is capable of meeting the warfighters' needs in a very complex and modern electromagnetic threat environment. We are extremely pleased with the throughput performance and agility of the Lighthouse system as demonstrated in the recent flight tests."
