
General Dynamics Receives $9.5 Million Contract Option for Aegis Directors
BURLINGTON, VT – General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has received a $9.5 million contract option from the Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., for the production of an additional two ship sets of Aegis gun and guided-missile directors and controllers. The contract being modified was originally awarded in February 2001; this option brings the cumulative contract value to date to $43.3 million and extends deliveries through 2005.
General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products produces the Aegis Illuminator gun and guided-missile director and controller to equip the Aegis Weapon System, the U.S. Navy’s most advanced air defense system. The Aegis Director provides a stabilized platform for Raytheon Equipment Division’s radar antenna assembly and provides motion in two axes, supplying position and radar Line of Sight (LOS) data to the fire control system computer.
