USS Kitty Hawk Battle Group to return from war

YOKOSUKA, Japan -- USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) will return to Yokosuka, Japan, from her deployment to the Persian Gulf on May 6. Returning with the carrier will be USS Cowpens (CG 63) and USS John S. McCain (DDG 56). Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 aircraft will return to Naval Air Facility Atsugi on May 1.
Departing Yokosuka on January 20, Kitty Hawk and the ships of her battle group participated in operations Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom, along with aircraft of CVW 5 and coalition navies in the Central Command and 5th Fleet areas of responsibility.
The Kitty Hawk Battle Group is commanded by Rear Adm. Matthew G. Moffit. USS Kitty Hawk is commanded by Capt. Thomas A. Parker; CVW 5 is commanded by Capt. Patrick Driscoll; Destroyer Squadron 15 embarked aboard the carrier is commanded by Capt. Mike Mahon; USS Cowpens is commanded by Capt. Charles Dixon; and USS John S. McCain is commanded by Cmdr. Kevin Campbell.
