Anti-war protests continue throughout Europe

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (USAFENS) - As U.S. and coalition forces continue ahead with Operation Iraqi Freedom, anti-war protests are occurring throughout Europe and the world.

The following protests are slated to occur within the U.S. Air Forces in Europe command during the next few weeks.  All American forces members and their families are asked to be aware of their surroundings, and be vigilant in pro-active force protection measures.

Rotterdam, Netherlands -- May 1 -- Red Morning is calling for an anti-war demonstration at the Rotterdam City Hall. Initial indications are that this protest will remain at the city hall and will not move to the port area. According to Netherlands law enforcement officials, Red Morning has not been involved in violent acts. Netherlands officials are aware of the planned demonstration.

London, United Kingdom -- May 3 at 1 p.m. -- An Anarchist demonstration is planned in London. This demonstration is an anti-war, anti-authority, anti-capitalist demonstration. Anarchists are calling for pre-emptive strikes, and for anarchists to attack oil companies, arms manufacturers, multinationals, banks, and British government offices, which are deemed the real creators of mass destruction.

Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany - The anti-war group NZK-Votums plans the following protests at the Grafenwoehr Training Area. German authorities will provide security and no violence is expected:

May 1 at 8 a.m. -- The motto of this demonstration is "Say No to the War Vote."    NZK-Votums plans to make a human chain around the training area.  One group of demonstrators will march from Grafenwoehr around the training area towards Vilseck. 

May 3 at 8 a.m. -- NZK-Votums along with a local member of the PDS (German Party for Democratic Socialism) will hold an anti-war demonstration in Grafenwoehr.  The mottos are "Stop the War in Iraq," "No More Firing on Grafenwoehr Training Area," "No Expansion of the Grafenwoehr Training Area," and "Withdrawal of U.S. Forces from Germany." 

Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England - First Wednesday of every month 5-6 p.m. - The Lakenheath Action Group is calling for a demonstration the first Wednesday of every month at the main gate of Lakenheath in opposition against nuclear weapons. LAG is calling for a peaceful vigil against the war. Source: website

Royal Air Force Fairford, England - Weekly on Saturdays -- Anti-war protests and demonstrations are slated to be held at RAF Fairford weekly on Saturdays.  Source: website

Berlin, Germany -- Weekly on Mondays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Mondays, with an estimated participation of 200 and a low level of violence.

Worms, Germany -Weekly on Wednesdays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Wednesdays, with an estimated participation of 20 and low level of violence.  

Koblenz, Worms, Kaiserslautern, Bitburg, Neuwind, Speyer, Germany -- Weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays with low level of violence.

Vicenza, Italy -- Weekly on Thursdays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Thursdays with an estimated participation of 100 and low level of violence.

Stuttgart, Ge. - Weekly on Saturdays -- Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Saturdays during the month of April nearly Stuttgart's city center.  The demonstrators will gather at the Lautenschlagerstrasses, near the Hotel Graf Zepplin, and march to the Schlossplatz.  More than 3,000 non-voilent protesters are expected.
