
General Dynamics Awarded $24M Ammunition Contract
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that the Department of the Army-Headquarters, Joint Munitions Command, Rock Island, Ill., has awarded it the fifth-year option of a 5-year multi-year contract for ammunition production. The option, valued at $23,991,941, is for production of 673,320 rounds of 25mm M910 TPDS-T (Target Practice Discarding Sabot-Tracer) cartridges and 1,453,300 rounds of 25mm M793 TP-T cartridges. This award brings the total contract value to $95.6 million.
The M793 and M910 ammunition are used in the Bushmaster Gun System mounted on the U. S. Army’s Bradley Fighting Vehicle and the U.S. Marine Corp’s Light Armored Vehicle. Work will be performed at the company’s Marion, Ill., facility and is expected to be completed by February 2005.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems manufactures large- and medium-caliber ammunition and precision metal components; provides explosive load, assemble and pack services for a variety of tactical missile and rocket programs; and designs and produces shaped charge warheads and control actuator systems.
