Be vigilant in FP measures, know locations of anti-war demonstrations

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (USAFENS) - With the U.S. military engaged in combat operations with Operation Iraqi Freedom, anti-war protests are occurring throughout Europe and the world.

The following protest demonstrations are slated to occur within the U.S. European Command during the next few weeks. 

All American forces members and their families are reminded to be aware of their surroundings, travel in small groups and vary their movements.  In addition, people are asked to let someone know when they will be traveling and the expected return date.  Being vigilant in pro-active force protection measures is everyone's responsibility, according to officials.

Known events include:

Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England - First Wednesday of every month 5-6 p.m. - The Lakenheath Action Group is calling for a demonstration the first Wednesday of every month at the main gate of Lakenheath in opposition against nuclear weapons. LAG is calling for a peaceful vigil against the war. Source: website

Royal Air Force Fairford, England - Weekly on Saturdays -- Anti-war protests and demonstrations are slated to be held at RAF Fairford weekly on Saturdays.  Source: website; Reueters March 3

Berlin, Germany -- Weekly on Mondays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Mondays, with an estimated participation of 200 and a low level of violence.

Worms, Germany -Weekly on Wednesdays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Wednesdays, with an estimated participation of 20 and low level of violence. 

Koblenz, Worms, Kaiserslautern, Bitburg, Neuwind, Speyer, Germany -- Weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays with low level of violence.

Vicenza, Italy -- Weekly on Thursdays - Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Thursdays with an estimated participation of 100 and low level of violence.

Stuttgart, Ge. - Weekly on Saturdays -- Anti-war demonstrations are scheduled to be held weekly on Saturdays during the month of April nearly Stuttgart's city center.  The demonstrators will gather at the Lautenschlagerstrasses, near the Hotel Graf Zepplin, and march to the Schlossplatz.  More than 3,000 non-voilent protesters are expected.

England - April 5-6 and April 11-13- A Series of anti-war demonstrations are scheduled for April 5-6 throughout England.  The following are the dates and locations.

Souda Bay, Crete - April 5 - There will be large anti-war demonstration in Souda Bay April 5.

Volkel Air Base, Netherlands - 5-6 April - An anti-war demonstration will take place at Volkel AB. The group "War Resisters' International" is organizing this event. Source: website

RAF Lakenheath - April 13 at noon --Protesters will stage a non-violent observation, and intend to walk along the perimeter fence of the base.- SOURCE: website

Stuttgart, Germany - April 17 - An anti-war rally will be held at the Marktplatz, in Stuttgart's city center.  The "Friedensnetz (Peace Net) Baden-Wuerttemberg" is organizing the demonstration.  More than 100 non-violent protestors are expected.  The Friedensnetz Baden-Wuerttemberg group holds rallies every week in downtown Stuttgart and has occasionally held rallies in front of Patch Barracks.

Germany - April 19-20 --Easter weekend has been a prime date for German anti-war protestors since the 1960's. Easter weekend 2002 saw tens of thousands of Germans protesting, in more than 50 cities, across Germany. Source: website

Faslane, England - April 22 7 a.m. - More than 100 protestors are planning a blockade outside of the United Kingdom Royal Navy Submarine Base.  Source: website
