7th Fleet command ship Blue Ridge arrives in Singapore

SINGAPORE -- The U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet command ship, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), and the embarked Commander, 7th Fleet staff arrived in the "Lion City" March 27.
While in port, Commander, 7th Fleet, Vice Adm. Robert F. Willard and the 7th Fleet staff are scheduled to meet with Singaporean military and civilian leaders to discuss issues of common interest and naval cooperation.
In addition to various meetings and discussions with military officials, Blue Ridge and 7th Fleet Sailors are scheduled to participate in a community service project while in Singapore. They'll also have a chance to enjoy recreational activities such as sightseeing and athletic events while interacting with local citizens.
Also while in port Singapore, Capt. Andrew G. Sevald, Blue Ridge's commanding officer, will complete a two-year tour aboard the command and control ship during a change of command ceremony March 28. He will be relieved by Capt. J. Stephen Maynard.
The 7th Fleet area of responsibility for U.S. Navy operations encompasses 52 million square miles of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. On average, there are 50 ships, 200 aircraft and approximately 20,000 Sailors operating in the area.
Blue Ridge has a complement of nearly 1,000 crewmembers and embarked staff.
