PEARL HARBOR, HI--USS Pasadena (SSN 752) left for a six-month deployment Mar. 17. The Los Angeles Class attack submarine and its crew of 130 men will be conducting missions in support of the Global War on Terrorism or possible contingencies elsewhere in the world.
Cmdr. Donald C. Fritts, Jr., USS Pasadena commanding officer, said his crew has worked very hard to prepare for this deployment.
"Over the past six months, Pasadena has been involved in some fairly rigorous preparations," he said. "Much of our time has been spent in the waters outside of southern California working with the Nimitz Battle Group, preparing to conduct operations with the battle group as well as any independent taskings the sub may be given."
According to Fritts, the crew's morale is high and they are proud of their accomplishments.
"They've been working hard and doing a good job, and they know it," he said. "They are confident, but not overly confident and they have a very professional attitude towards the upcoming deployment.
"The crew is rightly proud of what they have done to get ready for this deployment and it shows."
