"Light Infantry Vehicle for Special Operations" at the IDEX trade fair in Abu Dhabi

03/06/2003

Between 16th and 20th of march 2003, the Rheinmetall DeTec group will be represented at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi (UAE). For the first time ever, Rheinmetall Landsysteme will present its new Light Infantry Vehicle for Special Operations LIV (SO). The LIV was developed on the basis of the DaimlerChrysler all-terrain vehicle Wolf 270 CDI expressly to meet the needs of the special forces of German's Bundeswehr and the armed forces of friendly nations.

The vehicle, which can be transported in a CH 53 helicopter, offers an extremely high degree of mobility coupled with convincing firepower. Moreover, this 4-wheel drive vehicle is ready for action as soon as it hits the ground. The LIV can be equipped with a weapon station for a 12.7mm-cal. machinegun or, alternatively, a 40 mm grenade launcher. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped front and rear with a gun mount for a 7.62 mm-cal. machinegun. Its excellent off-road capability, smoke grenade launchers in the front and rear bumpers, wheels with run flat elements and other special features enable special forces units to operate even under extreme conditions.

Furthermore, the companies of Rheinmetall DeTec show you the latest developments and pioneering technologies now being produced by Rheinmetall DeTec, one of Europe's leading suppliers of defence technology equipment.
