V-O-A's Paula Wolfson reports, Mr. Karzai urged the Bush administration not to abandon Afghanistan as the United States prepares for possible war to disarm Iraq. TEXT: Mr. Bush called the Afghan president a courageous leader with a clear vision for his country. He pointed to statistics showing a big increase in refugees returning home and children attending school. ///BUSH ACT/// This is tremendous progress. And I want the American people to know that we are proud of the progress which is being made. ///END ACT/// President Karzai said much has been accomplished but much more remains to be done. ///KARZAI ACT/// I am here to thank you and the American people, but I am also here to ask you to do more for us, in making the life of the Afghan people better. ///END ACT/// Mr. Karzai went on to stress that great strides have been made in the war on terrorism, but pockets of terrorist activity still remain.
