EADS CASA signs a new contract with Jordan for two (2) C-295 aircraft

Madrid, 12 February 2003

Jordan has signed a contract with EADS CASA for the purchase of two C-295 military transport aircraft that will be delivered throughout 2003, enlarging thereby the transport capacity of its Air Force. The C-295 aircraft is the most modern military transport aircraft belonging to the family of transport aircraft manufactured by EADS CASA. Other aircraft belonging to this family are the C-212 and CN-235, of which there are more than 700 flying all over the world.

The C-295 is the most versatile aircraft in the market within the medium weight category. It was designed to carry out logistic transportation of troops and material missions as well as tactical missions, with an increasing importance in humanitarian aid in cases of catastrophe or the supply of food and medical equipment in remote areas.

The purchase of these aircraft by the Royal Jordan Air Force confirms their repeatedly proven suitability for the demanding environmental and climatic conditions reigning in the Middle East.

Fernández Sainz, president of EADS CASA, has said: “For more than two decades, there has been a close collaboration between EADS CASA and RJAF, which operates all of our aircraft, the trainer jet C-101, the C-212 and the CN-235. We are proud that Jordan is renewing its confidence in us by purchasing the new C-295 military transport aircraft. Customer satisfaction is always our objective.”

The RJAF will be the third operator of C-295s, after the Spanish Air Force which bought nine (9) aircraft and the Polish Air Force which bought eight (8). Twelve (12) EADS CASA C-295s have also been selected by the Brazilian Air Force, two C-295s selected by the Swiss Air Force and four C-295 Maritime Patrol Aircraft selected by the UAE Navy.

This new contract confirms once more the leadership of EADS CASA in the medium transport aircraft market.
