NAVSEA and PEO Realignment - Top Level Goals; Strategies and Alignments
By NAVSEA Office of Public Affairs
NAVSEA's realignment, although primarily affecting the Headquarters and Program Executive Offices (PEOs), will impact all NAVSEA because it is the command's goal to function as one SYSCOM/PEO organization without unnecessary administrative boundaries. In these times of changing threat environments, decreasing budgets and advanced technology, NAVSEA cannot afford to work separately from one another.
Everyone must work together utilizing existing resources in order to remain good stewards to our customers and the American taxpayer.
The realignment streamlines the command, making it more organized and remaining the Navy's premier engineering and technical authority.
There are some reductions in the NAVSEA budgets requiring the command to focus on eliminating duplication of effort. NAVSEA now has five PEOs instead of six, and three of those five are new. NAVSEA Directorates have been realigned to focus on systems integration and interoperability, allowing the command to better support deployed forces, and joint and coalition force operations.
SEA 06, the new Warfare Systems Engineering Directorate will organize and manage our combat systems and systems of systems to resolve any cross-platform concerns, ensuring systems are compatible with joint and coalition forces. Warfare Systems Engineering will serve as the Technical Authority and principal advisor to the Commander NAVSEA for Naval Warfare, Combat and Weapons Systems.
Additionally, the command has established the Human Systems Integration Directorate, SEA 03 to focus on training, enhanced Sailor performance, and improved systems providing Sailors and Marines the equipment they need to carry out their missions successfully. SEA 03 will also help NAVSEA align with the CNO's Task Force Excel training initiatives.
Through it all, NAVSEA and its team of professionals will ensure that the command continues to build the world's greatest and most capable Navy.
