ADDITIONAL III CORPS UNITS AT FORT HOOD RECEIVE DEPLOYMENT ORDERS

Elements of III Corps stationed at Fort Hood have received deployment orders to reposition forces as required to support the President's global war against terrorism.  Units from the 13th Corps Support Command at Fort Hood have been directed to deploy.

This repositioning of forces provides increased military capabilities in the ongoing war on terror.  Any further employment of those forces deploying in a future combat role is a presidential decision.

III Corps and its units based at Fort Hood have responded from the outset of the war on terror, will continue to deploy forces to places such as Afghanistan, Central Asia, Southwest Asia, Cuba, and Europe.  All III Corps units remain trained and ready to deploy on short notice as required to defend America's interests at home and worldwide.

The 13th Corps Support Command has been ordered to deploy additional units, including command and control elements for logistical and medical units, plus chemical, engineer, medical, and supply and maintenance units.

The numbers of troops deploying, their unit designations, times and dates of deployment, and deployment destinations will not be announced at this time for operational security reasons.

III Corps officials will not speculate on future employment of forces.

Note to Editors and News Directors:  The deployment dates for specific units will be announced when they are known.  We will provide as much advance notice as possible about dates and locations for departure activities.
