USS Kitty Hawk departs for carrier qualifications

YOKOSUKA, Japan -- America's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier left Yokosuka, Japan, Jan. 20 to conduct sea trials after routine maintenance.
The ship completed nearly eight weeks of shipboard repairs over the holidays.
The 41-year old aircraft carrier is constantly receiving maintenance and upgrades and sea trials are a means of testing the effectiveness of those procedures
