Boeing Selects Pennsylvania Company to Supply 767 Tanker Displays
ST. LOUIS, Jan. 14, 2003 -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) has selected Innovative Solutions and Support, Inc., of Exton, Pa., as a member of its team to provide the 767 Tanker Transport to the U.S. Air Force and customers around the globe.
As part of this team, Innovative Solutions will design and manufacture the Pilot's Mission Display and the Aerial Refueling Operator Control Display for the 767 Tanker Transport. The flat-panel displays provide critical video information to crewmembers during aerial-refueling operations.
The multi-year agreement is valued at approximately $10 million.
"I am delighted that Boeing has selected Innovative Solutions and Support to design and manufacture flat panel displays for the 767 Tanker Transport," stated Senator Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) upon hearing of the award. "Boeing's decision will allow this Pennsylvania company to help provide the U.S. and its allies with innovative technology to better respond to the worldwide threats we face today and in the future. The requirement to replace the aging fleet of 1950's vintage tankers is extremely well documented especially in light of the current terrorist threat. Pennsylvania is proud to be part of this solution."
"The selection of Innovative Solutions and Support is another key step in assembling a pre-eminent team of suppliers for the 767 Tanker Transport program," said Bob Gower, vice president of 767 Tanker Programs, part of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. "With this team, we can ensure low-risk and best value for all of our customers."
Commercially launched in June 2001, the 767 Tanker Transport is the right-sized aircraft for tanker missions around the globe and brings the unmatched aerial-refueling expertise of Boeing, which has delivered almost 2,000 tanker aircraft and produced virtually every air-refueling boom ever made.
Selected in three head-to-head competitions, the first 767 Tanker Transport will be delivered to the Italian Air Force in 2005.
Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc., designs, manufactures and markets flight information computers, electronic displays and advanced monitoring systems that measure and display critical flight information.
