Grenade Ambush Injures 2 U.S. Soldiers in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, Dec. 18, 2002 -- Two American soldiers and their Afghan translator were injured Dec. 17 when an attacker threw a grenade through the window of their vehicle in Kabul.
The soldiers were traveling near an Afghan national army facility when the attack occurred. Afghan police in the area transported the injured individuals to a military hospital run by the International Security Assistance Force in Kabul, a defense official said.
They are all reported in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. Military officials said their families have been notified.
