Boeing Selects Ohio Company as 767 Tanker Supplier
ST. LOUIS, Dec. 13, 2002 -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) has selected Grimes Aerospace Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Honeywell International Inc., of Urbana, Ohio, as a member of its nationwide team to provide the 767 Tanker Transport to the U.S. Air Force and customers around the globe.
As part of this team, Honeywell-Grimes will supply the exterior lighting system, including the aerial-refueling lights to assist pilots during tanker operations.
The agreement is valued at approximately $25 million.
"Honeywell-Grimes is a key member of the pre-eminent team of suppliers we are assembling for the 767 Tanker Transport program," said Bob Gower, vice president of 767 Tanker Programs, part of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. "This team will ensure low-risk and best value for all of our customers."
Commercially launched in June 2001, the 767 Tanker Transport is the right-sized aircraft for tanker missions around the globe and brings the unmatched aerial-refueling expertise of Boeing, which has delivered almost 2,000 tanker aircraft and produced virtually every air-refueling boom ever made.
Selected in three head-to-head competitions, the first 767 Tanker Transport is expected to be delivered to the Italian Air Force in 2005.
