INTRO: Reports from the Gaza Strip say Israeli helicopters have fired missiles at a Palestinian Authority compound in Gaza City. One person was reported killed and five others were wounded in the attack. Larry James reports from Jerusalem.

TEXT: Israel radio says the missiles hit a Palestinian Authority compound.

The Israeli military has not commented on the reports.

Israel has struck targets in Gaza frequently in the past, including Palestinian government and security buildings.

Earlier, the Israeli army says it shot and killed two Palestinian militants hiding in a cave near the West Bank city of Hebron and wounded another trying to infiltrate Israel from the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army says one of its soldiers will face charges for the shooting death of a 95-year-old Palestinian woman on Tuesday near the West Bank city of Ramallah. The army said the woman was killed when the soldier fired warning shots to keep a taxi away from a road the army had closed to Palestinian drivers.

Elsewhere, 12 Palestinians were arrested Tuesday during operations in the West Bank cities of Bethlehem, Hebron, and Nablus. Israel says the operations are aimed at tracking down militants suspected of planning and carrying out attacks on Israelis.

Israeli forces have arrested dozens of suspected Palestinian militants since a Palestinian suicide bomber killed 11-people November 21st on a Jerusalem bus.
