Thales and Geodis to share a defence and aerospace logistics subsidiary
12 November 2002
Thales and Geodis will share their defence and aerospace logistics expertise in a joint subsidiary called Thales Geodis Freight & Logistics. This company will be positioned as a major player in the specific defence and aerospace logistics market.
Geodis will acquire a 50% stake in Thales Freight & Logistics, which currently handles logistics and shipping for Thales Group units.
It will draw on Thales' expertise in managing and shipping sensitive equipment (end user control, defence equipment export licences, etc.) and on Geodis' supply chain management experience and worldwide network.
This new stage in the cooperation between Thales and Geodis is fully consistent with the Thales Group's strategic refocusing of its IT&S business area. It will expand Thales' capability to pursue its international development strategy by providing access to a global logistics organisation, an enhanced range of global services as well as local services for all its international facilities.
