Wizards take top tent for fifth straight month

NAS Whidbey Island Crosswind

Release Date: November 08, 2002

By Buck Herdegen Wizards' reporter

Each month the Combined Task Force Co-commander, Brig. Gen. Robin Scott, recognizes one male and one female tent as the best on the base.

VAQ-133 is one of a handful of Navy units stationed on Incirlik Air Base, dominated by Air Force personnel, yet for each month we have been here, going back to our last deployment in 2001, we have won tent of the month honors.

It reflects the work ethic and cleanliness of VAQ-133 personnel and the Navy as a whole, and it makes a positive lasting impression on members of the Air Force we have the privilege of working closely with.

Winning tent for females was tent 1030. Its residents include PN3 Tachrece Barton, AO3 Shareeta David, CTT3 Suly Garcia, IT3 Tiffany Lostbear and YNSN Emily Ripp.

Winning tent for males was tent 1411. AE2 Christopher Brasfield, AE2 Charles Chalmers, AZ2 Jeffrey Pierson, AEAN Steven Davis and AOAN Adam King reside there.

As anyone who has been to the field can attest, living in a tent can be a challenge. During the month, each command routinely inspects the tents assigned to its personnel. At the end of the month, commands put forward for inspection the tents it feels reflect the best of their unit.

These are then re-inspected by the 39th Wing First Sergeant, Chief Master Sgt. Danny Herndon, who makes the decision about which tents are the "best of the best."

What makes the Wizards keep coming out on top with an unbroken streak of "best tent" wins? They just apply the same dedication they put into their work into their personal lives on a daily basis.
